www.bpwhollywood.org

This is the homepage of the web site I designed for the Business and Professional Women of Hollywood using Photoshop, ImageReady and Dreamweaver. BPW is a women's organization with chapters across the country.

I incorporated the official logo of the group along with my own version of the famous Hollywood sign for the headline bar. I really liked their tagline "Women Helping Women Since 1921" and wanted to have an image that would express that idea in a visual, emotional branding kind of way. With the help of a couple female friends, I took a photo of them holding hands and used that as the visual focus of the homepage. It's simple, yet effective, and invites the web user to further explore.

I continue to act as webmaster for BPW-Hollywood and update their calendar page as needed. Click the link above to view the entire live web site.

www.michelespatterson.com

I designed this web site for the Law Offices of Michele S. Patterson using Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I wanted to design it in a simple, elegant style that was professional yet warm rather than corporate and impersonal. Again, very straightforward with easy navigation and her contact information at the bottom of each page.

Beginning with its premiere issue in January of 2003 to the present, I have designed The Fund Quarterly, an online newsletter published by the Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund. The Fund is a not-for-profit company that works on behalf of musicians working in the film and television industry. That being our target audience, the content of the newsletter focuses on serving the needs of our participant musicians by providing helpful information about the Fund and the industry as a whole in a professional yet entertaining way.

While the layout of the front page has been refined since that initial issue, the basic layout elements - the logo, accompanying mast head and the use of the film frame graphics to distinguish each article - have remained consistent throughout. I change the colors used from issue to issue for variety and of course the content is different each time, but from the beginning I really wanted to develope a brand identity. To build our brand, it was important to establish and maintain a consistent look and feel.

While I was responsible for the page layout of the newsletter and the html design and navigation (I did get a couple of bylines for articles too), the content itself has always been a collaborative effort among the various departments within the company. It is that all-inclusive approach that has made The Fund Quarterly truly the voice of the Fund.
